Private Wealth Management Internship – Summer 2026
Private Wealth Management’s financial advisors work with high-net-worth individuals and their families, business owners, endowments, and foundations to provide quality investment advice and thoughtful wealth management solutions. Advisors rely on the global resources and services of the firm, including William Blair’s renowned equity research, wealth planning services, and consulting services group, to help their clients achieve their goals, strengthen their legacies, and enrich their communities. The average tenure of a wealth advisor at William Blair is 15 years with the firm and 24 years in the industry which is a testament to the stability of our firm and our people. As of June 30 2025, William Blair Private Wealth Management oversees $78.5 billion in client assets. In addition to the Chicago-based office, there are private wealth management offices in Atlanta, Baltimore, Beverly Hills, Boston, Denver, New York, Philadelphia and San Francisco.
Job Summary & Responsibilities:
This internship offers hands-on experience in serving high-net-worth individuals and families by supporting their financial planning, investment management, and client relationship needs. Interns will gain exposure to various aspects of wealth management, including investment analysis, portfolio construction, estate planning, client servicing as well as other departments that support the advisory book of business. Examples include:
- Assist in preparing client presentations and financial reports
- Conduct research on financial markets, investment products, and economic trends
- Support teams in daily tasks including account reviews, performance analysis, and administrative follow-ups
- Update CRM systems and help with data entry and reporting tasks
- Shadow client meetings and internal strategy sessions (as appropriate)
- Participate in team projects and firm-wide intern training sessions
Qualifications:
- Flexible mindset and able to handle different projects and tasks simultaneously
- Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's with a graduation date between December 2026 and June 2029
- GPA of 3.0+ required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Excellent social and communication skills
- Interest in Private Wealth
- Desire to work in a team environment
A reasonable estimate of the current hourly range at time of posting is below.
