Policy & Public Affairs Summer Intern - 2026

Democracy Forward is hiring a Policy & Public Affairs Summer Intern for 2026 in Washington, DC. Democracy Forward Foundation's office is based in Washington, DC. Interns are expected to be in the office an average of 2-3 days per week (hybrid arrangement). The internship program is anticipated to run from May 26, 2026 - July 31, 2026. The Policy & Public Affairs intern will work closely with our Policy and Communications teams on research, analysis, and strategic communications supporting Democracy Forward's mission to advance a bold, vibrant democracy for all people. Responsibilities include conducting policy research on key issues, drafting policy briefs and analyses, supporting public affairs and media strategy, monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, and contributing to stakeholder outreach. The role provides hands-on experience in policy advocacy, regulatory analysis, and strategic communications at a leading public interest legal and policy organization. Compensation: $8,000 for the summer. Required qualifications: currently enrolled in or recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate program in Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, Public Affairs, or related field; strong research, writing, and analytical skills; interest in policy advocacy and democracy issues.
