ORNL's Next Generation STEM Internship Program (NGSI) provides high school juniors, seniors, and recent graduates an opportunity to engage in STEM or STEM-related projects with research and professional staff at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Participants work part-time over 16-17 weeks with optional professional development activities including workshops, lab tours, and networking events. The program is designed to inspire and prepare the next generation of STEM leaders by providing real-world research exposure at one of the U.S. Department of Energy's premier national laboratories. Eligibility: U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; high school junior/senior for 2026-2027 OR recent graduate (2024-2026); minimum 3.0 GPA; age 16+ by appointment start; must provide health insurance proof; requires one recommendation from a STEM teacher/principal. Dates: August 24, 2026 - December 11 or 18, 2026. Pay: $125 per week stipend (part-time).
