NPR is hosting its Fall 2026 internship program; applications open in early June 2026 through NPR's Career Portal. Internships are offered onsite in Washington, DC, fully remote, or hybrid as determined by each individual team's structure. The Fall/Winter Semester runs 28 weeks. Internships are typically full-time at 40 hours/week, with flexibility on a role-by-role basis. Pay: $20.00/hour for all interns. NPR does not offer transportation or housing assistance. Available opportunities include researching NPR sources for the newsroom, assisting with audio production, editing web pages, conducting research for shows, pitching ideas, engaging with social media channels, designing and developing embedded graphics for digital platforms, and coding survey data. Eligibility: applicants must be current students in an accredited degree program or have graduated no more than 12 months prior to the start of the internship. Roles span editorial, podcast production, business and revenue, technology, marketing, programming, member partnerships, and music. NPR's internship is one of the most competitive media internships in the U.S., known for placing alumni in leading journalism roles.
