OVERVIEW

JOB TITLE: Graduate Student Advising & Events Intern

LOCATION(S): St. Paul Campus

PAY RATE: $16.50

JOB SUMMARY 

The Graduate Student Advising & Events Intern for the Graduate Programs in Engineering, Software and Data Science will support the daily operations necessary to create a great experience for our graduate students. It includes being the first face that welcomes students into the office, as well as performing various important processes that support and enhance the students’ experience at St. Thomas and promote the graduate programs to future students. You will work in a suite in the Schoenecker Center with several other staff from the school of engineering.  

Currently hiring one student to start the spring semester. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Assist with the daily functions of the Graduate Student Services office by using Microsoft Office, Banner, Salesforce, etc. 
  • Assist with advising graduate students in Engineering and Software programs, via email or appointment 
  • Plan, promote, and implement regular community building events throughout the semester 
  • Assist with updating and implementation of online orientation for new graduate students 
  • Assist with critical academic processes, including retention, academic standing, and policy implementation 
  • Other duties as assigned 
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be enrolled full-time in a graduate program at the University of St. Thomas for the 2025-2026 academic year. 
  • Priority given to students in the Leadership in Student Affairs M.A. program at the University of St. Thomas. 
  • Remain in good academic standing throughout the entirety of employment. 
  • Preferred qualifications include: past experience in event management, advising, or retention efforts. 
  • Enthusiasm for assisting other students, especially international students who may be new to the St. Thomas community.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    ELIGIBILITY 

    To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.
