What You Will Do

The Ascension Data Sciences Institute (ADSI) was created in July 2019 with the mission of supporting Ascension in achieving its Quadruple Aim with uniquely skilled, high-performing associates who develop analyses, models and applications to enable Ascension in providing higher value healthcare and making strategic decisions. ADSI comprises domains addressing 1) Clinical quality and patient safety; 2) Strategic Operations and Financial Analytics; 3) Actuarial and Managed Care Analytics; 4) Registry Abstraction Healthcare Solutions; and 5) Healthcare Data Intelligence.

We recognize that the healthcare environment is a complex ecosystem of rapidly evolving clinical and economic practices that affect patient and provider experience and demands increasingly sophisticated and complex measurement. Our objective is for advanced analytics and data science to play a critical and foundational role in the transformation of care delivery, quality, and financial outcomes to enable our organization’s competitive advantage.

Responsibilities: 

• Support and contribute to the development of analytics that supports Ascension's improvements in strategic planning, CX, marketing, business development, and business operations.
• The internship will consist of project(s) and shadowing of different areas within our Strategic Growth organization. You will work on problems that will help inform senior leaders regarding operational and strategy decisions and measure the progress and outcomes of those decisions.
• Common tasks will involve:
  • Developing knowledge around existing business processes, functions and data sources that will be utilized in the business insights and recommendation development.
  • Working together with the analysts and consultants in coordinating across functional, data, operational teams and with leaders to ensure accuracy, consistency and optimization of the overall work product and business insights.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders to obtain necessary data for analyses which could include disparate source systems and data structures. 

What You Will Need

Education:

• High school diploma equivalency OR Enrolled in accredited program specific to discipline required.

Additional Preferences

• Experience working with large data sets and common data analysis tools (SQL, tableau, PowerBI) are preferred.
