About the Team 

The Legal, Public Policy & ESG Department provides support to every department in SIE on legal, regulatory and compliance matters. We are a dynamic, solutions-oriented global team that tackles cutting-edge legal issues in the video game industry and provides practical guidance to our business partners. 

What You’ll Be Doing 

Our intern will be exposed to a wide variety of legal work, from product counseling to marketing, advertising, IP, and trust and safety related work. They will have a chance to perform research, draft, and edit agreements, interact with a cross section of the Legal, Public Policy & ESG Department, and even meet our PlayStation clients. Candidates should be enthusiastic about tackling a wide range of legal issues and have excellent research, writing, and communication skills. A strong interest in one or more of the following areas is a definite plus: 

  • Video games 

  • Entertainment 

  • IP 

  • Technology 

  • Advertising and marketing 

  • Privacy  

  • Compliance  

  • Litigation 

  • Trust and safety 

What We’re Looking For 

  • Currently a rising 3L pursuing a Juris Doctor degree at an accredited institution, with an expected graduation date by Spring 2027 

  • Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership for your work 

  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written 

  • Eagerness to learn from and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes - a certain level of comfort with ambiguity, eagerness to bring structure and clarity to the understanding of complex legal issues and a can-do attitude 

Eligibility

  • Students with expected graduation between December 2026 and Spring 2027 from an accredited university. Advanced Degree - JD

  • Able to work full-time (2 days a week) in our San Mateo, CA office

  • Able to work during one of the following periods: May 18th - August 7th or June 15th - September 4th. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.

At this time, SIE will only consider applicants who are authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from SIE now or in the future to maintain their authorization to work in the United States.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
