Harvey's Research team is hiring an AI Research Intern for Summer 2026 to advance the frontier of legal reasoning systems. You will collaborate with research scientists on projects spanning long-context retrieval, agentic workflows, reinforcement learning from expert feedback (RLEF), and robust evaluation of LLMs on legal tasks. Responsibilities include designing evaluation benchmarks with our domain experts (former BigLaw associates), training and fine-tuning models using multi-GPU clusters, writing up results, and contributing to internal or external publications. Qualifications: pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field with a focus on NLP/ML; strong publication record at ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, ICML, or ICLR; fluency in PyTorch and distributed training; familiarity with modern LLM post-training techniques. MS candidates with exceptional research experience are also encouraged. Compensation is highly competitive including base, equity, and housing support.
