IonQ's Hardware Engineering team is hiring a Summer 2026 intern in Seattle, WA to contribute to the design, fabrication, and testing of next-generation ion trap systems. You will work on microfabricated surface traps, vacuum systems, RF electronics, and laser control subsystems that form the core of IonQ's trapped-ion quantum computers. Responsibilities include running bring-up experiments, characterizing trap performance, analyzing data in Python, and supporting hardware qualification campaigns. Qualifications: pursuing a BS/MS/PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Applied Physics; hands-on lab experience with optics, vacuum systems, or RF/analog electronics; proficiency with Python or MATLAB for data analysis. US person status required due to export-control restrictions on this role.
