Embedded/Firmware Engineer Intern (Summer 2026)

Block's Hardware team is hiring an Embedded/Firmware Engineer Intern for Summer 2026 to work on the firmware that powers Square's payment hardware (Register, Terminal, Reader). Responsibilities include writing and testing embedded C/C++ firmware, working with bootloaders and RTOS, debugging on target hardware with JTAG/SWD, and collaborating with hardware, security, and platform teams. Qualifications: Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in CS, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, graduating May 2027 - May 2028; experience in C/C++ and embedded development through coursework or personal projects; familiarity with microcontrollers, RTOS concepts, or secure boot is a plus.
