The Department of Justice Summer Law Intern Program (SLIP) is the DOJ's primary paid summer internship for first- and second-year law students. SLIP interns are placed in DOJ's litigating divisions (Civil, Civil Rights, Criminal, Antitrust, Environment & Natural Resources, Tax), U.S. Attorneys' Offices, and Department components (Office of Legal Counsel, Solicitor General, FBI, OLP, etc.). Interns conduct legal research, draft memoranda and briefs, attend court hearings, and support federal litigation and policy work. The program runs approximately 10 weeks in summer 2026 and pays at GS-level federal rates. Applications for Summer 2026 closed on September 2, 2025.
