Software Engineer Intern (First Play) – Summer 2026

First Play is LinkedIn's underclassman software engineering internship designed to develop the next generation of AI-native engineers. The 12-week program runs May 26, 2026 - August 14, 2026 in Mountain View, CA. As a First Play intern, you'll be paired with a mentor and embedded on a LinkedIn engineering team, shipping real product features using modern AI-assisted development workflows. Responsibilities: write production code in Java, Python, or Scala; contribute to a capstone project; participate in mentorship, technical workshops, and speaker events designed for underclassmen. Requirements: currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program (freshman or sophomore preferred) with an expected graduation date December 2027 or later; solid programming in at least one general-purpose language; strong interest in AI and large-scale systems. After initial qualifications review, candidates complete a HackerRank online code challenge. Pay range: $45-$55 per hour. Hybrid.
